Title 50 › Chapter 45— MISCELLANEOUS INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY AUTHORITIES › Subchapter IV— COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, AND SHARING OF INTELLIGENCE › § 3371a
Requires the Director of National Intelligence, working with the Directors of the CIA, NSA, and FBI, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and other intelligence leaders, to check state election systems for security weaknesses and assess foreign intelligence threats. The check must start no later than 1 year before any regularly scheduled Federal election after December 31, 2018, finish no later than 180 days before that election, and a report must be sent no later than 180 days before the election. An updated threat assessment must be sent no later than 90 days before the election. “Appropriate congressional committees” = the congressional intelligence committees, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the House Committee on Homeland Security. “Congressional leadership” = the Senate majority and minority leaders and the Speaker and House minority leader. “Security vulnerability” = defined in section 650 of title 6.
