Title 50 › Chapter 51— WAR CLAIMS › Subchapter I— TITLE I OF WAR CLAIMS ACT OF 1948 › § 4112
The Commission can decide claims for money from any American who served with an allied nation's military in World War II and was held as a prisoner of war after December 7, 1941. Payments must follow the rules and rates in subsection (b) and paragraphs (2) and (3) of subsection (d) of section 4105. The payment is reduced by any amount the person got or will get from another government for the same detention. If the person died, payment may go to the people named in paragraph (4) of subsection (d) of section 4105. Claims had to be filed within one year after August 31, 1954. Approved claims are paid from the War Claims Fund by the Secretary of the Treasury under section 4110.
