§302102 Inclusion of Properties on National Register

Summary

If a place meets the National Historic Landmark rules, it must be named a National Historic Landmark and put on the National Register, following the required procedures. Any place on the National Register on December 12, 1980 is treated as having been listed from its original listing date for purposes of this law. Places listed in the Federal Register on February 6, 1979, or listed before December 12, 1980, are declared by Congress to be National Historic Landmarks of national significance from their original Federal Register listing dates for purposes of this law and chapter 3201. If a Landmark district had no boundaries set by December 12, 1980, its boundaries must be published in the Federal Register first.
