§302706 Eligibility for Inclusion on National Register

Summary

Allow listing: Property that has traditional religious or cultural importance to an Indian tribe or a Native Hawaiian organization may be found eligible for the National Register. When a federal agency is acting under section 306108, it must talk with any tribe or Native Hawaiian organization that values that property. For Hawaii, the State Historic Preservation Officer must consult Native Hawaiian organizations when deciding whether to nominate a property under section 302303, when making the cultural part of a preservation plan, and must enter a written agreement with those organizations to assess and carry out that cultural work.
