§273 Professional Responsibility and Quality Review

Summary

The Director of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services must handle three main duties. The Director must investigate noncriminal claims of misconduct, corruption, or fraud by any bureau employee that the Department’s Inspector General is not investigating. The Director must also review how the bureau runs its work and report on the quality of the whole agency and each of its parts. Finally, the Director must analyze how the bureau is managed. When reviewing a bureau decision, the Director must check whether the facts and legal conclusions are accurate, look for any fraud or false statements, and consider how quickly or efficiently the decision was made.
