Creates a Cybersecurity Division inside the Agency. The Division must be led by an Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity. That person will have the rank of Assistant Secretary in the Department. The President appoints them without Senate approval, and they report to the Director. Any mention of the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications or Assistant Director for Cybersecurity in laws or papers now refers to the Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity. The Executive Assistant Director must lead the Agency’s cybersecurity work. They must, under the Director’s direction, carry out activities to protect Federal information and information systems consistent with law, including subchapter II of chapter 35 of title 44 and the Cybersecurity Act of 2015 (division N of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016 (Public Law 114–113)). They must fully take part in the mechanisms under section 652(c)(7) and do other duties the Director assigns.
