Title 7 › Chapter 38— DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS › Subchapter V— NATIONAL BIOENGINEERED FOOD DISCLOSURE STANDARD › § 1639a
Any label, package, or disclosure that says a food is bioengineered must follow these rules. The law’s meaning of "bioengineering" does not change other federal programs, rules, or definitions. The rules cover foods that must follow the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act labeling. They also cover meat, poultry, or egg products only if the food’s main ingredient would be covered by that Act, or if the main ingredient is broth/stock/water (or similar) and the second main ingredient would be covered by that Act.
