Title 7 › Chapter 9— PACKERS AND STOCKYARDS › Subchapter V— GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 228b–1
Live poultry dealers must pay the full amount owed to the seller or grower they got birds from. If the birds were bought in a cash sale, payment must be made by the end of the next business day after the purchase. If the birds came from a growing arrangement, payment must be made by the end of the 15th day after the week the birds were slaughtered. Trying to delay or stretch out the normal payment time is an unfair practice. A cash sale means the seller did not give the buyer credit.
