§241 Definitions

Defines key words used for rules about storing and trading farm products. Agricultural product means a farm commodity the Secretary of Agriculture decides, including products made from those commodities. Approval means the Secretary’s permission to do something allowed by these rules. Department means the Department of Agriculture. Electronic document means a document made, sent, received, or stored by electronic or similar means (for example, email or electronic data). Electronic receipt means a receipt the Secretary allows to be issued electronically. Holder means someone who has a receipt or electronic document, in fact or by law. Person includes an individual, a State, or a State’s local government. Receipt means a warehouse receipt issued under these rules, including electronic receipts. Secretary means the Secretary of Agriculture. Warehouse means a building or other approved storage place the Secretary allows for storing products for interstate or foreign commerce. Warehouse operator means someone lawfully in the business of storing or handling agricultural products.
