Title 7 › CHAPTER 62 — BEEF RESEARCH AND INFORMATION › § 2901
Authorizes a national program that collects fees from every cattle sale in the United States and from cattle, beef, and beef products brought into the United States. The fees must pay for a coordinated promotion and research program to make beef more competitive and to keep and grow markets here and abroad. Congress found that beef is a basic, widely eaten food that matters to the economy, is produced and processed by many people, needs efficient marketing and stable markets, and is already supported by state and national promotion and research groups; beef crosses state and national borders and even local beef affects interstate commerce. The program must not stop any individual producer from raising cattle.
