Defines the words used in this chapter. Board means the National Pork Board. Consumer information means activities that teach people about pork’s nutritional qualities and its place in a healthy diet. Delegate Body means the National Pork Producers Delegate Body. Imported means brought into the United States or taken out of customs storage for use. Importer means someone who brings porcine animals, pork, or pork products into the United States. Order means an official pork promotion, research, and consumer information order. Person means an individual, group, business, cooperative, or other entity. Porcine animal means a swine raised for feeder pigs, seedstock, or slaughter. Pork means the flesh of a porcine animal. Pork product means something made wholly or partly from pork. Producer means someone who raises porcine animals in the United States to sell. Promotion means actions, including paid ads, to make pork look good and boost sales. Research means studies to improve or learn about pork (image, nutrition, use, marketability, production, or quality) and sharing those results. Secretary means the Secretary of Agriculture. State means each of the 50 States. State association means either the single state pork-producers organization recognized by the state’s chief executive, or, if none existed on January 1, 1986, an organization representing at least 50 pork producers who together market at least 10 percent of the state’s porcine animal volume (by pounds). To market means to sell or otherwise dispose of porcine animals, pork, or pork products in commerce.
