§6961 Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment

Summary

Allows the Secretary of Agriculture to create the job called Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment. If the job is created, the President must appoint the Under Secretary with the Senate’s approval. The Secretary must give the Under Secretary the department duties related to natural resources and the environment, except duties already given under section 6932, and any other duties required by law or assigned by the Secretary. An Assistant Secretary serving on October 13, 1994 who was appointed by the President with the Senate’s approval does not have to be reappointed to the new Under Secretary job if the Secretary places that person in the new position within 180 days after October 13, 1994 (or a later date set by the Secretary if court cases delay the change).
