Nonprofits Lose Navy blouse Contracts
The Committee deleted specific Navy Working Uniform (NWU) blouses and several accessory items (listed by NSN) from the Procurement List that had been furnished by nonprofit agencies employing persons who are blind or have severe disabilities. The deletions take effect February 2, 2025, and the listed authorized suppliers (Blind Industries & Services of Maryland and San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind) will no longer supply those NSNs to the Government.
Opportunity for Other Small Businesses
The Committee stated the deletions may result in authorizing small entities to furnish the deleted product(s) and service(s) to the Government. That means other small businesses could be allowed to compete to supply these NSNs after February 2, 2025.
No New Paperwork or Compliance Burden
The Committee certified that deleting these items will not result in additional reporting, recordkeeping, or other compliance requirements for small entities. The certification also states the action will not have a significant impact on a substantial number of small entities.
