2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Approval Tied to U.S. Builder Impact

MARAD will decide whether to grant coastwise endorsement eligibility for Serenity based on whether its coastwise use to carry no more than 12 passengers would have an "unduly adverse effect" on U.S. vessel builders or businesses that use U.S.-flag vessels. If MARAD finds an unduly adverse effect under 46 U.S.C. 12121 and 46 CFR part 388, it will not approve the vessel's coastwise endorsement.

Public Comment Window for Serenity

MARAD is asking for public comments about whether the foreign-built motor yacht Serenity may carry up to 12 passengers for hire. You can submit comments by February 5, 2025, about the vessel (a 55.8' motor yacht based in Brick, New Jersey) and how its coastwise operation might affect U.S. vessel builders or businesses that use U.S.-flag vessels.
