Environmental Assessment for Shenandoah Project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission staff will prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the 862-kilowatt Shenandoah Hydroelectric Project on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River near the Town of Shenandoah in Page and Rockingham Counties, Virginia. Staff does not expect licensing the project to be a "major Federal action" that would require a full Environmental Impact Statement, and the EA is scheduled to be issued on December 31, 2025.

Help and Opportunity to Comment

Members of the public, including landowners, environmental justice communities, and Tribal members, can file comments on the EA and those comments will be analyzed and considered in the Commission's final licensing decision. The Commission's Office of Public Participation (OPP) offers assistance with accessing information and making filings; OPP can be reached at (202) 502-6595 or at OPPhelpFERConline@ferc.gov.
