NHTSA Denies Defect Petition for 2023 GLC300
On January 16, 2025, NHTSA denied petition DP23-003 (filed July 2, 2023) asking for an investigation into alleged defects in the ISG 48-volt system on Model Year 2023 Mercedes‑Benz GLC300 vehicles. NHTSA concluded the issues raised do not warrant opening a defect investigation at this time.
Manufacturer Service Campaign for CPC Software
Mercedes‑Benz reported to NHTSA that the condition described by the petitioner was caused by a software deviation in the Central Powertrain Controller (CPC) and that Mercedes‑Benz has an active service campaign to correct the CPC software deviation. NHTSA noted the CPC is separate from the 48‑volt ISG system and the CPC issue may cause intermittent no‑start conditions occurring at vehicle startup.
