Apply for Alaska Offshore Safety Seat

If you work in offshore oil exploration and production on the Outer Continental Shelf adjacent to Alaska, you can apply to fill a vacant seat on the National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee. Send a cover letter, resume, and a 2–3 paragraph third-person biography by email to [email protected] so they receive it on or before February 18, 2025; applicants who responded to prior notices do not need to reapply.

Committee Service Is Unpaid; You Cover Costs

If appointed to the Committee, you will serve at your own expense and receive no salary or other compensation from the Federal Government. The Committee is required to meet at least once a year (the Coast Guard expects at least twice a year), and membership terms expire on December 31 of the third full year after the effective date of appointment.

Background Check and Agreements Required

If appointed, the Secretary may require you to pass a security background examination before appointment, and you will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and a Gratuitous Service Agreement as conditions of service.
