Tribal priority for repatriation and claim window

If you are a lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization identified in this notice, the Prescott National Forest intends to return human remains to the appropriate claimant starting February 18, 2025. Written claims must be received by January 20, 2026; if no claim is received by that date, the remains will be considered unclaimed. The notice lists tribes with priority for disposition, including Ak-Chin, Cocopah, Colorado River Indian Tribes, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, Fort Mojave, Gila River Indian Community, Havasupai, Hopi, Hualapai, Pascua Yaqui, Quechan, Salt River Pima-Maricopa, San Carlos Apache, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tonto Apache, Yavapai-Apache Nation, Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe, and the Zuni Tribe.
