Tribes Can Request Repatriation from Temple

Tribes and lineal descendants can request return of human remains and funerary objects from Temple University. Repatriation may occur on or after February 18, 2025, and eligible requestors include the named Indian Tribes in this notice or others who show cultural affiliation by a preponderance of the evidence.

Temple Identified 94 Individuals, 156 Objects

Temple University identified human remains representing at least 94 individuals from the Mohr Site (36LA39) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and 156 associated funerary objects. The list of objects includes beads, ceramics, pipes, projectile points, musket balls, turtle shell vessels, and others described in the notice.

One Ceramic Vessel Missing; No Hazard Records

Temple University reports one ceramic vessel from the collection is currently missing and the university will continue to look for it. Temple also states it has no knowledge or record about whether potentially hazardous substances were used when the remains were cleaned.
