Federal Funds Can Be Rescinded for Certain K-12 Programs
Schools that receive Federal funds risk losing that money if those funds "directly or indirectly" support the instruction, advancement, or promotion of "gender ideology" or "discriminatory equity ideology" in K-12 curriculum, programs, or teacher training. Federal agencies must produce recommendations within 90 days about eliminating such Federal funding or support to schools, to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law.
Ban on Using Federal Funds to Support Student Social Transitions
Federal agencies must identify and stop Federal funds from being used by educational agencies or schools to directly or indirectly support the "social transition" of a minor student, including school staff involvement or deliberately concealing a minor's social transition from the minor's parents.
Attorney General Coordination to Enforce New Rules
The Attorney General will coordinate with State attorneys general and local district attorneys to enforce laws and file actions against K-12 teachers and school officials who sexually exploit minors, unlawfully practice medicine by offering diagnoses or treatment without a license, or otherwise unlawfully facilitate the social transition of a minor student.
1776 Commission Reestablished to Promote Patriotic Education
The President reestablished the President's Advisory 1776 Commission and directed the Secretary of Education to establish it within 120 days. The Commission (up to 20 members appointed for 2-year terms) will promote "patriotic education," run a Presidential 1776 Award, and coordinate bi-weekly lectures to be broadcast throughout calendar year 2026 around the 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
Mandated Constitution Day Programs and Agency Monitoring
All educational institutions that receive Federal funds are to hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of each fiscal year, and relevant agencies shall monitor and verify compliance with that law (section 111(b) of title I of Division J of Public Law 108-447).
Federal Agencies to Prioritize Patriotic Education Programs
Relevant Federal agencies are directed to prioritize Federal resources, consistent with law, to promote patriotic education through specific programs such as the Department of Education's American History and Civics Academies and National Activities, the Department of Defense's civics education programs, and the Department of State's educational and cultural exchange programs.
