U.S. Stops Funding Certain UN Bodies

The Executive Order dated February 4, 2025 directs that U.S. agencies shall not use any funds to contribute to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and instructs the Secretary to withhold the United States' proportionate share of the UN Regular Budget funding for the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The Order also states the United States will not satisfy any claims to pay 2025 assessments or prior arrears, and it requires reviews of UNESCO within 90 days and all international intergovernmental organizations within 180 days.
