Federal stop to buying paper straws
Heads of executive departments and agencies must take action to eliminate the procurement of paper straws and ensure paper straws are no longer provided within agency buildings. This requirement comes from the Executive Order dated February 10, 2025.
Remove policies that disfavor plastic straws
Agencies must eliminate policies designed to disfavor plastic straws, including those issued to further Executive Order 14057 (which was revoked on January 20, 2025). Agencies are directed to reverse internal rules or practices that penalize plastic-straw use.
45-day national strategy to end paper straws
Within 45 days of February 10, 2025, the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy must issue a National Strategy to End the Use of Paper Straws. The strategy must address eliminating policies that disfavor plastic straws, contract terms with entities (including States) that ban or penalize plastic-straw purchase or use, and other tools to achieve the order's policy nationwide.
