Abandonment of Wells and Pipelines in Montana

WBI Energy filed to abandon six natural gas storage wells and about 4.07 miles of three-inch, four-inch, and twelve-inch pipeline in the Baker Storage Field, Fallon County, Montana. The company estimates the project will cost $7,600,000 and states the abandonment "will limit integrity risk" in alignment with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Storage Final Rule.

Failure to Protest Can Authorize Project

If no protest is filed by the June 9, 2025 deadline or if a protest is filed and then withdrawn within 30 days after the allowed filing time, the proposed abandonment will be deemed authorized effective the day after the protest deadline. If a protest is filed and not withdrawn within 30 days after the allowed filing time, the Commission will consider the request.

Public Participation Deadline and Free Filing

The Commission set a deadline of 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 9, 2025 to file protests, motions to intervene, or comments about this project. There is no fee to file protests, motions to intervene, or comments, and the Commission's Office of Public Participation can assist landowners, community organizations, Tribal members, and others in making filings.
