Pipeline to Supply Local Industrial Facilities
Rockies Express proposes the Decatur Lateral Project to provide about 185 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas to Archer Daniels Midland and to the Broadwing Clean Energy Complex. The project includes a 15.9-mile, 20-inch-diameter lateral and a 0.8-mile spur to connect to those facilities.
EA Issuance and 90-Day Decision Timeline
An environmental assessment (EA) for the Decatur Lateral Project will be issued on December 12, 2025, and the EA will be open for a 30-day public comment period. Federal and state agencies with authority must complete final decisions within 90 days of the EA, by March 12, 2026.
Agricultural Concerns Will Be Addressed in the EA
The Illinois Farm Bureau and one individual submitted environmental comments requesting that Rockies Express enter an Agricultural Impact Mitigation Agreement with the Illinois Department of Agriculture and that the company file for a permit with the Illinois Department of Transportation. The notice states that all substantive comments will be addressed in the EA.
