Flood Maps Change Local Risk
You may live or own property in a community where Base Flood Elevations (BFEs), Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries, flood zone designations, or the regulatory floodway were changed based on new scientific or technical data. Those map changes revise the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and supporting Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports and could change how flood risk is officially classified for your property.
New Maps Apply Immediately To Policies
When FEMA issues a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR), the revised FIRM and any updated FIS portions take effect immediately for the listed community. The current effective community number shown in the notice must be used for all new flood insurance policies and policy renewals.
