Spillway Upgrade at Burton Dam
Georgia Power plans to replace bottom-hinged spillway gates with an Obermeyer gate system and build a control building at the Burton Development. Work is expected to begin in 2026, take 18 to 24 months, will be performed behind a bulkhead so no reservoir drawdown is required, and ground disturbance is limited to less than one acre (no NPDES permit required).

The public may file comments, motions to intervene, or protests on the application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by October 8, 2025, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Only those who file a motion to intervene in accordance with the Commission's rules may become a party to the proceeding.
