You may file a protest or a motion to intervene in the Forestport Hydroelectric Project proceeding; motions to intervene and protests must be received by November 7, 2025 by 5:00 p.m. EST. Filings can be submitted electronically via FERC's eFiling system and must identify the project name and docket number (P-4900-090).

Project will keep run-of-river operations

Forestport Hydro proposes to continue operating the project in a run-of-river mode keeping the Forestport impoundment at 1,126.55 feet NGVD29 and Alder Pond between 1,123.6 and 1,124.6 feet NGVD29, and to continue releasing a minimum flow of 140 cubic feet per second (cfs) or inflow, whichever is less. The project includes a 3.3-megawatt Kaplan turbine-generator connected to the regional grid.

Recreation facilities maintained and moved

Forestport Hydro will continue to maintain project recreation facilities including Alder Pond and Forestport impoundment parking and access areas, a roughly 1,200-foot portage route, a roughly 150-foot power canal portage route, and a powerhouse parking area, and proposes to move the power canal portage take-out site upstream of the boat barrier. The company also plans to update directional and safety signage.

Wildlife and cultural protections required

The applicant proposes to implement a Bat and Bald Eagle Management Plan, an Invasive Species Management Plan, develop an operation compliance monitoring plan, and to consult with the New York State Historic Preservation Officer before any land-clearing or land-disturbing activities to protect cultural resources.
