Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
Communities must adopt floodplain measures
The preliminary FIRM and, where applicable, the FIS report are the basis for floodplain management measures that a community is required to adopt or show evidence of having in effect to qualify or remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Communities listed will need to adopt or demonstrate these measures to keep NFIP participation.
Flood map updates can change insurance
FEMA proposes changes to Base Flood Elevations (BFEs), base flood depth, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries or zone designations, and regulatory floodways on Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and supporting Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports for specific communities. You (property owners and local residents) could see changes to flood zone designations and flood insurance rules and costs if your community is listed.
You can comment on proposed maps
FEMA is requesting public comments on the preliminary FIRMs and FIS reports for the listed communities. If you live or own property in an affected community, you have an opportunity to submit information and comments before the determinations are finalized.
