Updated Steel Pipe Standard Required
If you build or maintain pipelines, starting July 1, 2025 you must follow the updated ASTM A53/A53M steel pipe standard. PHMSA amended 49 CFR parts 192 and 195 to incorporate by reference ASTM International's updated standard. The Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration confirmed the DFR effective date in the Federal Register on July 1, 2025.
