New Tank Access Safety Standard
Starting July 1, 2025, PHMSA amended 49 CFR part 195 to incorporate API Recommended Practice (RP) 2026, "Safe Access/Egress Involving Floating Roofs of Storage Tanks in Petroleum Service." This means entities that handle floating roofs of petroleum storage tanks must follow the updated safe access and egress practices in API RP 2026 by that date.
