No Pay, No Travel Reimbursement
Members appointed to the Committee will not receive compensation and do not get travel reimbursement or per diem for meetings. Committee members must cover any travel or other costs themselves.
Time Commitment and Removal Rules
Committee members serve terms determined by the Secretaries, not to exceed three years, and the Committee meets once each quarter (additional meetings possible). A member absent for two public meetings in a calendar year or who does not participate in the Committee's work may be removed.
Application Materials and Pre-Appointment Checks
To apply you must submit a statement of interest, resume, contact information, industry statement, and agree to pre-appointment mandatory background and tax checks; all documents must be in Microsoft Word format. A national security clearance is not required for the position.
Membership Representation and No Alternates
The Committee has 20 members who must represent trade/transportation communities or firms affected by CBP commercial operations, represent major regions, and membership is specific to the appointee—members may not send alternates to meetings.
