FAA Accepts Burbank Airport Noise Maps

The FAA determined that Hollywood Burbank Airport's noise exposure maps are compliant, effective November 20, 2025. The accepted maps include an Existing Conditions (2025) map and a Future Conditions (2030) map that show where aircraft noise contours are drawn.

Airport Can Propose Noise Reduction Measures

Because the FAA accepted the noise exposure maps, the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority may submit a noise compatibility program for FAA approval that sets out measures to reduce existing non‑compatible uses and prevent new ones. Such a program would address actions the airport has taken or proposes to take to limit aircraft noise impacts.

FAA Does Not Guarantee Approval or Funding

The FAA's acceptance of the noise exposure maps does not mean the FAA approves the airport's data or plans, nor does it commit the FAA to approve a noise compatibility program or to fund its implementation. Residents should not assume federal approval or funding will follow map acceptance.

Local Governments Keep Land‑Use Responsibility

The FAA stated that overlaying noise contours onto property maps and determining which properties are covered by 49 U.S.C. 47506 is the responsibility of the airport operator and local public agencies and planning authorities. FAA acceptance does not change local land use control or planning responsibilities.
