Leesville Fishing Platform Put On Hold
If you visit the Smith Mountain reservoir on the Roanoke River in Virginia (Project No. 2210-272), Appalachian Power asked FERC to remove the requirement to maintain the Leesville Tailrace Fishing Platform from the Recreation Management Plan and Article 410 until the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources obtains funding and provides engineering plans. The amendment was filed May 16, 2025 and supplemented August 7, 2025; the platform has been closed since 2019 for structural safety and a portion was removed. Anyone may file comments, protests, or motions to intervene by December 5, 2025, 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time regarding this request affecting Bedford, Campbell, Franklin, Pittsylvania, and Roanoke counties, Virginia.
