PSAP E911 Notification Requirements
Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) must provide specific information to initiate E911 service and to validate requests to wireless carriers. The rule requires PSAPs to demonstrate cost recovery, show they have ordered necessary equipment, and show they requested trunking/facilities from the local exchange carrier. The FCC estimates 633 respondents (567 responses), 0.5–1 hour per response, and a total annual burden of 527 hours, with the obligation to respond being mandatory and total annual cost listed as No Cost.
Non‑initialized Handset 911 Callback Duties
Businesses that make or handle non-service-initialized (911-only) wireless handsets must comply with 911 callback capability requirements, including per-handset labeling and public education efforts for 911 callback. The collection covers manufacturers of 911-only handsets manufactured after May 3, 2004; the FCC estimates 553 business respondents, 225,553 responses, an average of 0.01076465 hour per response (range: 30 seconds per label to 1 hour for public education), and a total annual burden of 2,428 hours with No Annual Cost.
