Duties Continue on Mexican and Turkish Steel Reinforcing Bars
Published Date: 4/13/2026
Notice
Summary
The U.S. government is keeping special taxes on steel bars from Mexico and Türkiye because stopping them could hurt American businesses. These taxes help stop unfair pricing and unfair government help from those countries. This decision started on April 8, 2026, and means importers will keep paying extra fees to protect U.S. steel makers.

Duties Continue on Rebar Imports
Starting April 8, 2026, the U.S. will continue antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CVD) duty orders on steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) from Mexico and Türkiye. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will continue to collect AD and CVD cash deposits at the rates in effect at the time of entry for all imports of the subject merchandise (including HTSUS 7213.10.0000, 7214.20.0000, and 7228.30.8010).
Certain Rebar Forms Excluded
The Orders apply to deformed rebar in straight length or coil regardless of metallurgy, length, diameter, or grade, but specifically exclude plain rounds (non-deformed or smooth rebar). Deformed steel wire meeting ASTM A1064/A1064M with no bar markings and without an elongation test is also excluded from the scope.
