Summary

The USDA just canceled the current funding opportunity for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) starting right now. If you already applied but don’t have a signed agreement, you’ll need to apply again once new rules and funding details are announced. This pause means no new money is available until the updated program is ready, so keep an eye out for the fresh application window!

REAP funding pause effective immediately

The USDA rescinded the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Notice of Funding Opportunity that was published October 16, 2024, effective April 15, 2026. This means no new REAP grant, guaranteed loan, or combined funding will be available until the Agency issues updated regulations and announces funding.

Previously filed applicants must reapply

If you already applied to REAP but do not have a fully executed Financial Assistance Agreement, your application is not carried forward and you must submit a new application under the updated rules once the Agency reopens the program. This requirement applies to any applicant without a fully executed Financial Assistance Agreement.

Future processing tied to new rule and notice

The Agency is issuing regulatory changes for REAP and will announce available funding and a new funding notice on its website after the updated regulation is published. Grant applications will be processed according to that future funding notice.
