Project proposes 8.4 MTPA LNG export terminal
The application proposes building the ST LNG deepwater port about 10.4 nautical miles (19.2 kilometers) offshore Matagorda, Texas, capable of exporting up to 8.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Public meeting in Bay City on May 6
MARAD is holding an informational open house (5:00–6:00 p.m. CST) and a public meeting (6:00–8:00 p.m. CST) on May 6, 2026 at the Bay City Civic Center, 201 7th Street, Bay City, Texas 77414, where you can learn about and comment on the ST LNG Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
Final public hearing required after FEIS
Under the Deepwater Port Act of 1974, a final public hearing will be held in the Adjacent Coastal State(s) after the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is issued to receive comments on whether the deepwater port license application should be approved.
