Published Date: 4/22/2026

Notice

Summary

The big stock market players want to keep their data processor running longer hours to share Nasdaq stock prices and trades more quickly. This change affects all the exchanges trading Nasdaq stocks and could mean faster info for investors starting March 12, 2026. No extra costs were mentioned, but the SEC is now deciding if this plan gets the green light.

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Stock Data Available Much Longer

You may get real-time Nasdaq quotation and trade information for much longer each week: the Processor would operate from 9:00 p.m. ET Sunday to 8:00 p.m. ET Friday, with a 1-hour pause from 8:00 p.m. ET to 9:00 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday and holiday exceptions. The Operating Committee expects to implement the change on December 6, 2026 if approved.

How Extended Trades Are Shown

If you trade or follow Nasdaq securities, trades reported outside 9:30 a.m. ET–4:00 p.m. ET will be marked as “.T” and will count toward total trade volume for revenue allocation but will not be used to calculate the daily high, low, or last sale. The Plan also defines a trade date as between 8:00 p.m. ET the day before Regular Trading Hours and 8:00 p.m. ET on that trading day.
