Summary

Nasdaq MRX is updating how certain auction trades work by letting Market Makers join in more easily to help match orders. Assigned Market Makers May Be Solicited

Nasdaq MRX now permits orders for the accounts of Market Makers assigned to an options class to be solicited as the contra-side in Facilitation Mechanisms, the Solicited Order Mechanism (SOM), and Price Improvement Mechanisms (PIM). This removes the prior prohibition and applies across all options; the rule filing became effective upon filing on April 13, 2026.

More Liquidity and Price Improvement Chances

Because assigned Market Makers can now be solicited in Paired Auctions (Facilitation, SOM, and PIM), the Exchange says available liquidity in those auctions may expand and could increase execution and price improvement opportunities, particularly for Priority Customer orders in a PIM. The rule change was filed and became effective on April 13, 2026.

IOC Orders Clarified as Rejected (Not Routed)

Nasdaq MRX changed Options 5, Section 4(a) to state that Immediate-or-Cancel ("IOC") orders will be rejected and will not be routed, rather than saying they will be cancelled and not routed. The Exchange says this clarifies that IOC orders do not rest on the book and the filing was effective upon filing on April 13, 2026.
