FDA to Select 2026-2027 COVID Vaccine Formula
On May 28, 2026, the FDA advisory Committee will meet to discuss and make recommendations on the 2026-2027 formula for COVID-19 vaccines for use in the United States. This selection could change the vaccine ingredients used for people who get COVID-19 shots in the U.S.
Public Comment Docket for Vaccine Formula
FDA opened a public docket (Docket No. FDA-2026-N-3962) for comments on the 2026-2027 COVID-19 vaccine formula. The docket closes May 27, 2026; comments submitted on or before May 21, 2026 will be provided to the Committee, and electronic comments are accepted until 11:59 p.m. ET on May 27, 2026.
How to Make Oral Presentations to the Committee
Individuals may request to make formal oral presentations during the open public hearing (scheduled about 1:00–2:00 p.m. ET on May 28, 2026). Interested speakers must notify the contact person and submit a brief statement and contact details by 12 p.m. Eastern Time on May 18, 2026; the contact person will notify speakers by 6 p.m. ET on May 20, 2026. If requests exceed available time, FDA may run a lottery.
Virtual Meeting Access and Disability Accommodations
The May 28, 2026 meeting will be conducted via online teleconference/video (with captions), streamed at the provided YouTube link, recorded, and FDA will provide disability accommodations if requested at least 7 days before the meeting. FDA waived certain in-person location requirements to allow the online format.
