New 1‑NM No‑Fly Zone at Trump Tower

The FAA proposes Prohibited Area P-75: a no-fly zone centered on Trump Tower that covers a 1 nautical mile radius and extends from the surface up to 1,000 feet above ground level (AGL). Aircraft may not operate inside that area unless the using agency, the United States Secret Service (USSS), grants permission.

USSS Authorization Required to Enter

Under P-75, you cannot fly into the prohibited area unless the United States Secret Service (the using agency) gives authorization. Authorization is required for any aircraft operations within the zone.

Temporary Restriction Made Permanent

The proposal would convert the existing Special Security Instruction (SSI) temporary flight restriction (which extends to 1,000 feet AGL and is in effect through October 20, 2026) into a permanent, continuously effective Prohibited Area P-75. FAA says the prohibited area is more restrictive in wording but has few, if any, practical differences from the SSI.

Helicopter Routes Preserved Over East River

FAA designed P-75 to carve out the area over the East River so routine helicopter operations along the East and Hudson River corridors can continue. FAA says this minimizes the impact on helicopter operators.

FAA Expects Only De Minimis Rerouting Costs

FAA states the proposed prohibited area would only affect air traffic procedures and navigation, causing at most de minimis costs from minor rerouting of flights and minimal economic impact on small entities.
