Published Date: 5/1/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. Department of Commerce just updated its list of foreign government subsidies on certain cheeses that get special low import taxes. Cheese importers and traders should note there were no new subsidy reports for July to September 2025, but the agency wants any new info by June 30, 2026. This helps keep cheese trade fair and the import taxes accurate, so everyone plays by the rules!

Canadian Cheese Subsidy Listed

Commerce updated its quarterly listing for imports from October 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025 and shows an Export Assistance subsidy for certain Canadian cheeses of $0.47 per pound (gross and net). If you import or trade those Canadian cheeses, this listing identifies a $0.47/lb subsidy for that period.

Deadline to Submit Subsidy Information

Commerce is asking anyone with information about foreign government subsidy programs that benefit cheeses subject to an in-quota rate of duty to submit it by June 30, 2026 via Regulations.gov (Docket No. ITA-2020-0005). If you are an importer, trader, or other interested party, you can send evidence by that date for Commerce to consider.
