US Delays Verdict on Cheap Canadian Mushrooms Invading Markets

Published Date: 5/4/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. is delaying its first big decision on whether fresh mushrooms from Canada are being sold unfairly cheap. This gives the investigators more time to dig into the details and make sure everything’s fair. Mushroom sellers and buyers should expect the new decision by late July 2026, which could affect prices and trade rules.

Preliminary Decision Delayed to July 13

If you are a party in the U.S. less‑than‑fair‑value investigation of fresh mushrooms from Canada, the Department of Commerce postponed the preliminary determination from May 22, 2026 by 50 days. Commerce will now issue the preliminary determination no later than July 13, 2026.

Petitioner Sought More Time to Review Responses

The Fresh Mushroom Fair Trade Coalition (the petitioner) submitted a timely request on April 23, 2026 asking for postponement so Commerce can fully analyze mandatory respondents' questionnaire responses and issue supplemental questionnaires if needed. Commerce granted the request and found no compelling reason to deny it.

Final Determination Timing Remains 75 Days Later

Commerce stated that the deadline for the final determination will remain 75 days after the preliminary determination. Because the preliminary determination deadline is July 13, 2026, the final determination would be 75 days later (on or about September 26, 2026) unless Commerce postpones it again.
