One-day no‑transit safety zone

If you plan to operate a boat on the Ohio River near Louisville, KY, you may not enter the water between mile markers 599 and 604 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 10, 2026 unless you get permission from the Captain of the Port or a designated representative. The Coast Guard will notify mariners by broadcast and on‑scene representatives about the special regulated area.

Participants get exclusive race access

People and vessels registered as race participants are allowed to be in the regulated area during the event on October 10, 2026. Non-participants must get authorization to enter; to request permission contact the event sponsor at (404) 200-4024 or follow directions from the Captain of the Port.

Small entities not expected to be harmed

The Coast Guard certifies under the Regulatory Flexibility Act that this proposed rule would not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. The agency expects commercial and recreational traffic not tied to the event to be low and notes vessels can request permission to transit the area.
