Adoption Reimbursement Continues for Veterans

If you are a veteran with a service-connected disability that makes you unable to procreate without fertility treatments, you are authorized to get reimbursement for qualifying adoption expenses for adoptions finalized after September 29, 2016. The authority comes from the 2018 and 2019 appropriations acts, and VA has removed an expiration date in its regulations to accommodate Congressional renewals.

Application Time Burden for Applicants

To request reimbursement you must submit VA Form 10-10152 with required documentation. The VA estimates an average burden of 6 hours per respondent, with an estimated 80 respondents annually and a total estimated annual burden of 480 hours; responses are expected once annually.
