Published Date: 5/8/2026

Rule

Summary

From June 24 to July 1, 2026, the Coast Guard is setting up a temporary safety zone in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor during a big air show event. Boats and people can’t enter the zone without special permission to keep everyone safe during flyovers and demonstrations. The zone will be enforced daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., so plan ahead if you’re on the water!

Temporary Inner Harbor safety zone

From 10 a.m. on June 24, 2026 through 6 p.m. on July 1, 2026, a safety zone covers all waters of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor (about 2,000 yards by 500 yards). You and your boat may not enter that zone during enforcement periods (generally 10 a.m.–6 p.m. each day and starting 30 minutes before an air demonstration) unless the Captain of the Port or a designated representative gives permission.

How to request permission to enter

If you need to be in the safety zone, you may request permission from the Captain of the Port or their representative by contacting VHF-FM channel 16 or calling (410) 576-2693. Anyone in the zone must follow lawful orders from the Captain of the Port or their designated representative.

Small entities: economic impact certified small

The Coast Guard certified under 5 U.S.C. 605(b) that this rule will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities because it affects a small area for a few hours at a time. The Coast Guard will issue a Broadcast Notice to Mariners (VHF FM channel 16) so affected businesses can adjust transit plans, and small entities can request permission to enter the area.
