Possible Harm to U.S. Boat Builders
MARAD is asking for comments on whether allowing the foreign-built vessel M/V ALOLKOY to operate in U.S. coastwise trade would have an undue adverse effect on U.S. vessel builders or U.S. coastwise trade businesses that use U.S.-built vessels. The notice specifically seeks evidence and supporting documentation about any adverse effects. Comments are due June 15, 2026.
Foreign Vessel May Gain Coastwise Access
MARAD received a request to allow the foreign-built small passenger vessel M/V ALOLKOY to engage in U.S. coastwise trade carrying no more than 12 passengers for hire. If MARAD determines the use will not adversely affect U.S. builders or coastwise businesses, the vessel could be eligible for a coastwise endorsement.
