- Public transit and fleet operators could win competitive grants to install and test wireless charging for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles, including Federal fleets. Grants can focus on interoperability, safety, battery life, and reducing fuel use and CO2 emissions.
- States, local, Tribal, and territorial governments, metropolitan planning organizations, special purpose districts, and transit agencies are eligible, and the program prioritizes geographic diversity and benefits to low-income or disadvantaged communities.
- The federal share can cover up to 80% of project costs and grants are capped at $25.0 million. Projects must meet Buy America and Davis-Bacon wage rules and may use funds for workforce training and community engagement.

Grants to build wireless EV charging
This bill would create a DOT grant program, coordinated with DOE, to build wireless EV charging at roads, parking lots, airports, and ports. It would authorize $250 million, available until spent. Each grant could be up to $25 million, with the federal share capped at 80%. States, local, Tribal, and territorial governments, MPOs, transit agencies, and public transportation authorities could apply, and could use some funds for workforce training and community outreach. DOT would favor projects that help low‑income or disadvantaged areas, fleets and transit, improve safety and interoperability, are energy‑efficient, leverage non‑federal money, and ensure geographic diversity. Davis‑Bacon wages and Buy America rules would apply (with limited waivers), and DOT would report to Congress each year and may provide technical help.
