AANHPI mental health outreach
If enacted, HHS would create a national outreach and education strategy to reduce stigma and promote mental health and substance use care in Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Materials would be culturally and language‑tailored and age‑appropriate, and consumers and community members must help design them. The Secretary would publish an initial report and then yearly updates starting within one year of enactment. Congress could authorize $3.0 million each year from 2026 through 2030 to run this work.
Review of AANHPI behavioral health workforce
If enacted, HHS would assess the behavioral health workforce who identify as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander. The review would count workers, list license types, practice locations, employer types, and languages spoken. It would identify barriers to entering training and the workforce and report how many participate in Federal workforce programs. The Secretary would publish a public report and send it to two congressional committees within one year of enactment. Congress could provide $1.5 million in 2026 to fund the review.
Study of AANHPI youth mental health
If enacted, HHS would lead a systematic review of behavioral health among Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander youth. The review would measure prevalence, risk factors, suicide and overdose attempts and deaths, and treatment received. Data must be broken down by race, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, region, disability, and other factors while protecting privacy. The Secretary would publish the report and send it to key congressional committees within one year of enactment. Congress could provide $1.5 million in 2026 to fund the study.
