STRIVE Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Representative Gray
In Committee
Summary
Prohibit retroactive VA copayments when the VA misses its own notification deadlines. This bill would bar the Department of Veterans Affairs from collecting copayments from a veteran more than two years after care if the VA failed to give timely notice or failed to tell the veteran their total owed exceeded a set threshold. It would also let the Secretary waive copayments in appropriate cases without a veteran asking, and it pushes a pension-related deadline to early 2032.

Veterans: Limits on late VA copay bills
This bill would stop VA from collecting copays for care after two years if VA missed key notices. It would apply if VA did not send the bill on time under its own standards, or did not tell you when your total copays went over the set threshold. The threshold would be $2,000 at first, and would rise each fiscal year by last year’s CPI; it would not drop. VA could also waive copays whenever it finds it appropriate, even if you do not request a waiver.
VA pension payment limit delayed to 2032
This bill would change a date in VA pension law from November 30, 2031 to February 29, 2032. It would delay when a certain pension payment limit applies. Veterans who receive VA pensions and are subject to that limit would be affected.
